Apologies for the lack of posts today — I’ve been in transit most of the day for an unexpected last-minute trip. I’m sitting in George Bush International Airport in Houston at the moment. Still, “Openings” must go on!

I’m not sure where the time went, but we’re a week away from May and it’ll be June before you know it. In a telltale sign that summer is just around the corner, yesterday the City Parks Foundation announced the 2012 season of SummerStage, New York City’s largest free performing arts festival.

And we’re back… Twenty-four (24!) free and cheap events in the neighborhood on Thursday, April 19th, 2012… I’m trying something new by breaking things down into categories rather than just one long list by time of day. It’s a work in progress and I’m not sure I’m going to stick with it — the formatting [...]

If you missed the post earlier today, the big UWS opening news is that Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is taking over the long-vacant historic Metro Theater (2626 Broadway, between 99th & 100th). I have to admit, I wasn’t familiar with Drafthouse Cinema prior to today. When I first read the news about “Alamo Drafthouse” taking over [...]
