Another day, another DOH closing. Wrote yesterday that Cheesy Pizza (Broadway & 100th) was temporarily shuttered. Now comes word that 72nd Street Bagel (130 W. 72nd) is the latest UWS eatery to suffer the wrath of the health department. 72nd Street Bagel had previously earned an “A” during their last graded inspection in September 2012.

Broadway in the West 90s is rapidly becoming a mecca for all things relating to frozen yogurt. There’s the iCrave at Broadway & 95th, a Lite Choice across the street, a Tasti D-Lite half a block away, and a 16 Handles three blocks north. As of today, you can add Pinkberry to the list — [...]

Mentioned this in today’s Free & Cheap UWS Events post, but I figured it deserved a last minute shout-out. There’s an LGBTQ Chanukah party taking place on the Upper West Side tonight, Saturday 12/15. It’s billed as “the oldest and largest NY LGBTQ Jewish Community wide holiday party.”

Catching up on some closing news… The photo above shows the McDonald’s located at 2049 Broadway (at 71st). It was recently shuttered and gutted, and it happened almost overnight.

Had a slew of posts last month about the ongoing saga (Are they open? Are they closed?) at The Purple Fig (250 W. 72nd). If you lost track of things, they reopened in late-September with a new menu. Apparently they also have new management (thanks to @ManhattanMingle for the photo).

JCC In Manhattan (334 Amsterdam, at 76th) is holding their annual open house tomorrow (Sunday, 9/23). They’re offering a a day of free programing, including classes, demos, special offers, giveaways, and more.

Several readers wrote in over the past two days to report they had noticed police activity at Lansky’s Deli (235 Columbus, btw. 70/71) and that a sign on the restaurant noted it was closed due to “acts of vandalism.” I’ve been slammed with non-MyUpperWest stuff this week and hadn’t had a chance to investigate, but [...]

Posted all the way back in February that a kosher/Middle-Eastern restaurant called Grill 212 was opening at 212 W. 80th (between Broadway & Amsterdam). It took a little longer than expected, but they finally opened for business last Thursday.
