One more event of note tomorrow (Saturday, 5/18): The Central Park Conservancy is holding their free annual On A Wing Festival. Activities include interacting with various birds of prey, bird shows, and bird walks.

If you’re looking to exercise your green thumb, the West 75th Street Block Association is holding their annual Planting Day on Saturday (5/18). Projects will take place on W. 75th between Columbus and Central Park West, from 1:00 – 4:00 pm.

Well this must have been more than a little embarrassing… A couple fell out of a row boat and into the Central Park lake yesterday afternoon, drawing a rather large FDNY and NYPD response, including helicopters, to the scene.

If you’re looking to for a volunteer opportunity and aren’t afraid to get your hands dirty, the Riverside Park Conservancy is looking for people to help out with various projects this Saturday (5/18) for It’s My Park Day. Volunteers are needed between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm at various locations around the park.

It’s time for weekend #2 of the West Side Community Garden’s annual tulip festival. There’s a chance of some rain overnight, but the forecast for Saturday and Sunday looks to be decent (thought not as warm as today).

If you’re looking for a family activity tomorrow morning (Saturday, 4/20), Central Park is holding its annual Family Volunteer Day: “Help prepare the grounds for another beautiful spring and summer season with a mulching project. The Conservancy’s horticultural volunteer coordinators will guide the project and provide you with tools and gloves.”

Great free event at Columbia tomorrow night (Friday, 4/19): Columbia Astronomy Outreach is hosting their bi-weekly stargazing and astronomy lecture series from 8:00 – 10:00 pm. It’s a 30 minute talk followed by 90 minutes of stargazing from the rooftop observatory at Columbia’s Pupin Hall.

It’s miserable outside right now but the forecast this weekend looks pretty good — 55 to 60 degrees with a fair amount of sun. Perfect timing for the West Side Community Garden’s annual tulip festival, which takes place tomorrow (4/13) and Sunday (4/14), as well as next weekend (4/20 & 4/21).
