There have been rumors swirling for months that Marshalls planned to open an UWS store in the retail space at The Larstrand development on Broadway, between 77th & 78th. So while perhaps it’s not exactly a surprise at this point, the signage recently became visible thanks to the construction site undergoing a bit of a [...]
Well here’s some disconcerting news to start the weekend: Customers who purchased pre-cut fruit from the Westside Market at 2589 Broadway (between 97th & 98th) between 8/9 & 8/22 are urged to get a hepatitis A vaccination as a precaution due to possible contamination from an infected worker. Below is the full press release from [...]
Looks like women’s clothing boutique Maje is coming to the Upper West Side. Signage recently appeared at the old Space NK Apothecary store at 217 Columbus (between 69th & 70th). When it opens later this summer, it will be Maje’s fifth NYC store (I believe they also have showroom space at Bloomingdale’s).
It’s been almost seven months since the Verizon Wireless store at 2268 Broadway (81st/82nd) closed and relocated one block south to the former home of H&H Bagels. Looks like RadioShack is taking over the space.
Wrote last month that the historic UWS Emerald Inn was getting close to opening at their new location (250 W. 72nd, between West End & Broadway). Thanks to MUW reader Hope, who reports the “new” Emerald is now officially open.
It’s street fair time again on the Upper West Side — today it’s the 20th Annual Spring Crafts Festival. In addition to the usual compliment of street meat and tube socks, a wide array of artisans will be selling their crafts. The fair runs from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm, along the west side of [...]
The 102nd & 103rd Streets Block Association is holding its annual yard sale on Saturday (5/18). The event runs from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm on W. 103rd, between West End & Riverside. All the “vendors” are residents from the neighborhood. There will also be a silent auction, 50/50 raffle, refreshments, a bake sale, and [...]
I think it’s fair to say that many people have old CD collections lying around that they’re not sure what to do with. Some still listen to them, while others have transferred the content to MP3 format. I suspect a lot of the actual discs get thrown out or donated to libraries, but one Upper [...]
Posted back in March that the Barney’s Co-Op at 2151 Broadway (between 75th & 76th) is slated to undergo a renovation and re-branding. As you can see in the photo above, that process has begun.
Looks like gift/toy store Maxiga has closed — the windows are papered up and no one is answering their phone at their 2233 Broadway location (between 79th & 80th). Maxiga opened on the Upper West Side back in September 2011 (this space used to house a Best Buy Mobile store).
