UPDATE 11/12/12: @wiljr has stepped down from organizing this, but MUW reader @jmagNYC has picked up the reigns.
I’ve worked from home for years. There are plenty of perks (I may or may not be naked as I type this — you’ll never know), but one of the big downsides is the lack of banter and social interaction inherent to an office environment.
In an effort to address the issue, MUW reader @wiljr — an Upper West Sider who works from home himself — has organized a casual meet-up of sorts for tomorrow afternoon (Wednesday, 10/19).
If you work from home and live in the neighborhood, stop by for a beer (or soda) and a break from the monotony.
The action goes down at The Dead Poet (450 Amsterdam, between 81st & 82nd) from about 2:00 – 4:00 pm.
There’s no obligation to arrive by a certain hour or stay for any predefined length of time — it’s going to be pretty casual. At the moment, there are about half-a-dozen people planning to attend, although that number may have gone up since my last exchange with Wil and I have no idea how many people reading this may show up.
Wil put together a post on his site that includes a brief FAQ if you’d like to know more.
