Posted last month about a fire on West 72nd Street that broke out just as Rigoletto Pizza was getting read to open their new UWS space. It took about a month, but the restaurant recently finished their clean-up effort and opened for business a few days ago.

There’s been quite a bit of upheaval at popular UWS Spanish restaurant Gastroarte (formerly Graffit) over the past few weeks (141 W. 69, between Broadway & Columbus). Chef and partner Jesus Nunez left a few weeks ago and now a sign in the window indicates “the restaurant is closed for kitchen restoration.”

Posted back in June that Rigoletto Pizza would be moving from 208 Columbus (between 69th & 70th) — its home for 20 years — to a new location at 141 W. 72nd (between Amsterdam & Columbus). They were supposed to open any day now, but a large fire broke out at the new space earlier [...]

After 20 years at 208 Columbus (between 69th & 70th), UWS pizza fixture Rigoletto is relocating elsewhere in the neighborhood. They’re moving nearby, into the former Red Velvet Bakery space at 141 W. 72nd, between Amsterdam & Columbus. A mystery opening of sorts is slated for the ground floor of the Beacon Hotel at 2130 Broadway (between 74th & 75th). As you can see from the sign above (thanks to MUW reader @dzoldan), a liquor license has been filed under the completely uninformative name of “Beacon Operating LLC.”
