Want to know when the next 1, 2, or 3 train is coming? There’s now an app for that — MTA Subway Time. The recently released app lists real-time subway arrivals times for the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and S lines. I’ve been testing it on the Upper West Side 1/2/3 lines for [...]
The MTA’s FASTRACK maintenance program returns this week. This time it’s affecting the 1/2/3 lines — the primary subway artery of the Upper West Side. As a result, there are major service changes over the next four nights from 10:00 pm – 5:00 am.
Posted last October that Upper West Side subway stations were slated to receive cell phone service “within the year.” Looks like that target was accurate, as UWS stations between 59th and 96th Streets will begin to go live starting next month, with the roll-out expected to be completed by December.
The Straphangers Campaign released their their annual “State Of The Subway” report today and it’s official: The C train still sucks. The line was ranked as the worst in NYC for the fourth year in a row.
Received multiple reports from readers last night about lots of police activity at the 72nd Street 1/2/3 station, resulting in huge delays for people trying to make their way home. An MTA worker suffered serious electrical burns while working on a signal box, temporarily halting all service between 42nd & 96th Streets and trapping five [...]
After a month’s hiatus, the MTA’s FASTRACK maintenance program returns this week. This time it’s affecting the 1/2/3 lines — the primary subway artery of the Upper West Side. As a result, there are major service changes over the next four nights from 10:00 pm – 5:00 am.
Crazy scene at the 72nd Street 1/2/3 subway station yesterday morning as an attempted robbery unfolded during the morning rush hour commute. The incident apparently ended with the suspect getting pepper sprayed by police on the platform.
In February it was the B/D/F/M, and in March it was the A/C/E. The MTA’s FASTRACK maintenance program continues this week on the 1/2/3 trains, which service the heart of the Upper West Side. If you rely on those trains, be aware there are major service changes over the next four nights from 10:00 pm [...]
I’ve been traveling since last week and am catching up on news, so you may have heard about this already. A 63-year-old man was struck and killed by a downtown 2 train at the 72nd Street subway station early Sunday morning.
Posted yesterday that one of the two people hit by a subway on the Upper West Side on Wednesday was ruled as a suicide. That has now been reclassified as “an accident.”
Following-up on yesterday’s post about two separate incidents of individuals being struck by an uptown train at the 72nd Street 1/2/3 station. One was a suicide by a 62-year-old man, while the other was a 33-year-old male who fell on the tracks and may have been drunk, disoriented, or unstable. He is listed in stable [...]
Just a quick transportation update as the evening rush hour starts: The police investigation at the 72nd Street subway station (a result of two people being struck by a subway train in separate incidents this morning) is complete and service on the 1/2/3 line has returned to normal.
