The MTA’s FASTRACK maintenance program returns this week. This time it’s affecting the 1/2/3 lines — the primary subway artery of the Upper West Side. As a result, there are major service changes over the next four nights from 10:00 pm – 5:00 am.

Posted last October that Upper West Side subway stations were slated to receive cell phone service “within the year.” Looks like that target was accurate, as UWS stations between 59th and 96th Streets will begin to go live starting next month, with the roll-out expected to be completed by December.

Received multiple reports from readers last night about lots of police activity at the 72nd Street 1/2/3 station, resulting in huge delays for people trying to make their way home. An MTA worker suffered serious electrical burns while working on a signal box, temporarily halting all service between 42nd & 96th Streets and trapping five [...]

Crazy scene at the 72nd Street 1/2/3 subway station yesterday morning as an attempted robbery unfolded during the morning rush hour commute. The incident apparently ended with the suspect getting pepper sprayed by police on the platform.

In February it was the B/D/F/M, and in March it was the A/C/E. The MTA’s FASTRACK maintenance program continues this week on the 1/2/3 trains, which service the heart of the Upper West Side. If you rely on those trains, be aware there are major service changes over the next four nights from 10:00 pm [...]

Just a quick transportation update as the evening rush hour starts: The police investigation at the 72nd Street subway station (a result of two people being struck by a subway train in separate incidents this morning) is complete and service on the 1/2/3 line has returned to normal.
