Following up on last week’s news about the rodent problem at the UWS Fairway Market (2127 Broadway, 74th). Earlier this week, I spoke to Fairway president Bill Sanford at length about the situation — he reached out to me last week after the story went viral. To start with, here’s the official company response:

There was some overnight renovation at the UWS Fairway Market last night. I presume these were improvements to address customer concerns related to recent video of rats inside the store. I’d have more than the one photo below, but there was a confrontation between a store employee and myself that resulted in him calling security [...]

The latest Fairway rodent sighting continues to make its way around various media outlets. Last night, David Letterman kicked off his monologue with a joke about the Fairway rat.
