Posted last Thursday about the fire that broke out in Ollie’s Noodle Shop on Broadway and blanketed a huge chunk of the West 60s in smoke. At the time, it was reported that Ollie’s (1991 Broadway, between 67th & 68th) would be closed “indefinitely.” Well, “indefinitely” has been changed to “permanently.”

A new restaurant has already taken over the space and it’s pretty big news (at least in terms of restaurant openings): An outpost of Chelsea’s highly regarded Legend Chinese restaurant opened its doors this weekend. Upper West [...]

Posted back in July that the Upper West Side outpost of Fatty Crab would be closing in the “fall” to make room for uber-popular West Village Chinese/dim sum restaurant RedFarm’s expansion into the neighborhood. Looks like “fall” meant “Labor Day,” as Fatty Crab will shuttering tonight.

UPDATE 12/3: A rep from RedFarm told me they expect to open “sometime in early 2013.” Rumors have been swirling for months that RedFarm, the incredibly popular West Village Chinese/dim sum restaurant, was looking to expand to the Upper West Side. Esteemed restaurant critic (and Upper West Sider) Gael Greene first mentioned the possibility back [...]

Looking for an Upper West Side foodie date for that won’t break the bank? Eater just put out a list of five “Cheap-Ass Foodie Dates” — a drink, dinner, and dessert for about $20/person — and one of them involves three UWS locales.
