If you’re looking for a place to watch tonight’s presidential debate/town hall, Stand Up NY (236 W. 78, between Broadway & Amsterdam) is hosting what looks to be a fun event. They’re screening the debate and mixing in stand up performances and a live feed from WitStream.com.

Back in June 2010, there was a flurry of interest when President Obama’s former UWS pad hit the market (it was rented less than two weeks later). After two years, it’s back on the market (with a 26% rent increase).

I’m still trying to track down details, but apparently someone robbed the Chase bank at 2875 Broadway (at 112th) yesterday afternoon, just five blocks south of where President Obama gave a commencement speech at Barnard.

UPDATE 2:00 pm: Columbia Spectator notes that Mr. Obama just finished up his speech. He’ll likely be heading south to ABC studios soon. Posted this morning that President Obama is the commencement speaker at Barnard College today. When he’s finished over there, he’ll be heading to the West 60s to tape an episode of The [...]

The UWS and UES have long had political stigmas attached to them. If recent fundraising figured from the campaigns of President Obama and likely Republican challenger Mitt Romney are any indication, those stigmas still hold true — the UWS is blue and the UES is red.

If you missed the news, President Obama rolled through the Upper West Side on Thursday as he attended a $5,000/person fundraiser on West 67th. MUW reader Lucien sent in this shot of the President’s limo heading the wrong way on Columbus (north rather than south) as it prepared to turn onto 67th Street. Apparently one [...]

It would be easy to walk past the “No Parking Thursday” signs posted on West 67th and surrounding streets and not give them a second thought — there’s always “No Parking” somewhere in Manhattan. However, the reason for these particular signs is anything but typical: President Obama is coming to the Upper West Side today. [...]

President Obama landed at New York’s JFK Airport early this afternoon for a short NYC trip, and his travels to Harlem subsequently shut down streets on the Upper West Side. My Upper West tipster Lilian reports seeing Central Park West from 72nd to 86th closed this afternoon, with a slew of police blocking off the [...]
