Upper West Side P.S. 84 (The Lillian Weber School Of The Arts) is holding its annual cabaret gala/benefit at the New-York Historical Society this Sunday (3/3) and tickets are still available. My friend Paul and his wife are actively involved with the P.S. 84 PTA and they tell me the event will be great entertainment [...]

A pair of “person vs. car” traffic accidents on the UWS over the weekend left a pizza delivery man seriously injured and a 75-year-old pedestrian dead. The fatality is being treated as a hit-and-run and police are searching for a suspect.

Street artist Hani’s latest work, on the west side Broadway, between 79th & 80th. He seems to be focusing on WW II propaganda posters these days, as he drew a similar image at Broadway & 97th back in July. Hani has been gracing NYC & UWS sidewalks with his creations for nearly 30 years.

Posted back in April that Ritz Camera was relocating from 2400 Broadway to 2409 Broadway (both near 88th Street) to make room for a new TD Bank. They opened their doors at the new space on May 1st, but less than five months later they’re closing again — and this time for good.

UPDATE: Apparently West 114th experienced several manhole explosions shortly after this post went up — additional details below. MUW reader and frequent tipster Ashira just sent in the photo above, snapped around 5:45 pm Monday. Apparently there’s a manhole fire of some sort at the intersection of Broadway & 114th. Per Ashira:

Thanks to MUW reader @aarongottlieb for pointing this out. Jerry Seinfeld was (is?) apparently filming something in the neighborhood today. @JerrySeinfeld tweeted this earlier this afternoon: Working on my New Thing. Posted the other day about a fantastic Upper West Side fundraiser taking place on Sunday evening (March 4th). The event features legendary composer/musician Alan Menken, winner of eight Academy Awards (19 nominations!), seven Golden Globes, and 11 Grammy’s (just to name some of his accolades). In addition to a concert by Mr. Menken, there will [...]

You may not recognize the face of the man pictured above, but you’re almost certainly familiar with his work. He’s famed composer and musician Alan Menken — winner of eight Academy Awards (19 nominations!), seven Golden Globes, 11 Grammy’s, and three Tony nominations (how did he not win one of those too??). On Sunday, March [...]

If you’ve spent any time walking around the intersection of 72nd & Broadway, you’ve undoubtedly noticed the dumpling/pot sticker cart that had a semi-permanent home in front of Trader Joe’s near the SW corner. A few days ago I received a tweet from MUW reader @elibolin noting the cart had disappeared and asking if I [...]
