Posted last Sunday that “designer off-price” store Fox’s was moving into the long-vacant former Syms space at 2232 Broadway (corner of 80th). The turnaround between the signage going up and the store actually opening is one of the fastest I’ve seen — Fox’s opened for business yesterday (Saturday, 11/17).

Coffee lovers rejoice — you’ve got another spot in the neighborhood to get your fix. The long awaited Irving Farm Coffee at 224 W. 79th (between Broadway & Amsterdam) finally opened its doors today. Thanks to MUW reader Wes for the tip, as well as this initial report: “Just got my first cup-a-joe at Irving [...]

I first mentioned Gastronomie 491 (491 Columbus, between 83rd & 84th) way back in September. At the time, word was they’d open “sometime in October.” As with many openings in the neighborhood, things moved a little slower than originally planned. However, the wait is now over — the gourmet market and cafe is opening for [...]

It takes a pretty big set of balls to name your bakery “The Best Chocolate Cake In The World.” Upper West Siders will soon be able to judge for themselves as to whether or not the one pictured above meets that lofty claim — I’m guessing it doesn’t, but am willing to give them the [...]

As previously mentioned on MyUpperWest, celeb-chef Daniel Boulud recently opened two more outposts on the Upper West Side — the Mediterranean-inspired restaurant Boulud Sud (20 West 64th, between Broadway & CPW) and upscale market/cafe Epicurie Boulud (1900 Broadway @ 64th). EaterNY has extensive coverage on both new places, culling reviews from a variety of sources. [...]

NearSay has a rundown of four cafes they say are the best of the Upper West. For their write-up of Joe – The Art Of Coffee, they reference a post on MyUpperWest from January of last year (before my time — it was written by Lauren & Torrey). The NearSay link just takes you to [...]
