Disturbing news to start the week: DNAinfo reports that the Dunkin’ Donuts at 2424 Broadway (between 89th & 90th) was robbed by a gun-toting thief last night. The incident occurred around 10:00 pm. There were no injuries and the crook, who remains at large this morning, got away with “an undetermined amount of money.”

Wrote last month about the NYPD’s search for man pictured above in connection with ten armed robberies/muggings on the UWS. In each case, the suspect allegedly followed his victim into their building before holding them up with either a gun or knife. Police say they now have the man in custody.

Posted earlier about a robbery at the Chase bank at 2551 Broadway this afternoon (between 95th & 96th). I just went through the MyUpperWest archives and noticed that banks along Broadway in the West 90s & 100s have been involved in what seems like an inordinate number of robberies during the past 18 months: Chase [...]

While I think of the Upper West Side as a safe place to live, year-end NYPD statistics show a large uptick in felony crime. The 20th and 24th precincts — covering 59th to 110th Streets, between Central Park and the Hudson — saw a total of 2,095 serious crimes (i.e., murder, rape, robbery, felony assault, [...]

A 35-year-old woman was allegedly the victim of a sexual assault early Saturday morning in Central Park. The incident took place in almost the exact same spot where a woman was stabbed and three police officers were hurt earlier this month, although the crimes are unrelated.
