UPDATE: Hungarian Pastry Shop has reopened The Department Of Health carnage continues. In the past week, DOH has closed UWS restaurants Bellini (since reopened), Dinastia China (I believe they have also reopened), and The Abbey Pub. Now comes word that 50-year-old neighborhood stalwart Hungarian Pastry Shop (1030 Amsterdam, 110th/111th) has fallen victim to DOH inspectors.

The new Brooks Brothers (2381 Broadway, between 87th & 88th), first mentioned back in November, officially opened last week. They were aiming to be open by February and their signage had said “Spring 2012,” so if you split the difference it appears they were able to meet their goals.
