Another day, another DOH closing. Wrote yesterday that Cheesy Pizza (Broadway & 100th) was temporarily shuttered. Now comes word that 72nd Street Bagel (130 W. 72nd) is the latest UWS eatery to suffer the wrath of the health department. 72nd Street Bagel had previously earned an “A” during their last graded inspection in September 2012.

Upper West Side stalwart Cheesy Pizza (2640 Broadway, at 100th) is the latest neighborhood spot to be closed by the Health Department. The restaurant, which has been on the UWS for more than 20 years, was shuttered on Friday. Cheesy Pizza previously earned a “B” during its last graded inspection in July 2012.

Upper West Side Cava Wine Bar Closed By Health Department

Cava Wine Bar (185 W. 80th, between Amsterdam & Columbus) is the latest Upper West Side establishment to incur the wrath of the Health Department. DOH ordered the space temporarily closed on Wednesday. The wine bar/restaurant had previously earned an “A” during their last graded inspection in June 2012.

Good news if you’ve been unable to get your bagel fix the past few days. Absolute Bagels, which was shuttered by the health department last week, reopened today. The store, considered by many to have the best bagels on the Upper West Side, had been closed since Thursday, 1/17.
