Central Park hosted their annual tree lighting ceremony earlier this month — now it’s Riverside Park’s turn. The third annual “Holiday On The Hudson” tree lighting ceremony takes place TONIGHT (12/12/12).

Inflatable union rats are a familiar sight around New York City, but the one parked outside the UWS Fairway Market (2127 Broadway, at 74th) earlier today conjured up particularly vivid imagery given the store’s recent rodent run-ins. Following up on last week’s news about the rodent problem at the UWS Fairway Market (2127 Broadway, 74th). Earlier this week, I spoke to Fairway president Bill Sanford at length about the situation — he reached out to me last week after the story went viral. To start with, here’s the official company response:

There was some overnight renovation at the UWS Fairway Market last night. I presume these were improvements to address customer concerns related to recent video of rats inside the store. I’d have more than the one photo below, but there was a confrontation between a store employee and myself that resulted in him calling security [...]

The latest Fairway rodent sighting continues to make its way around various media outlets. Last night, David Letterman kicked off his monologue with a joke about the Fairway rat.
