Well this must have been more than a little embarrassing… A couple fell out of a row boat and into the Central Park lake yesterday afternoon, drawing a rather large FDNY and NYPD response, including helicopters, to the scene.

UPDATE: Apparently West 114th experienced several manhole explosions shortly after this post went up — additional details below. MUW reader and frequent tipster Ashira  just sent in the photo above, snapped around 5:45 pm Monday. Apparently there’s a manhole fire of some sort at the intersection of Broadway & 114th. A fire in an Upper West Side residential hi-rise brought out the FDNY in full force earlier this afternoon. The incident took place along Broadway, between 77th & 78th, and MUW reader Emma was on scene to capture a few photos. Per Emma:
