“The show must go on!” The Central Park Conservancy took those words to heart last night as the first annual Central To Spring celebration took place during a rainstorm last night. MUW reader Wendy snapped the shot above from her balcony on West 79th facing southeast towards the park (you can see the two iconic [...]
It’s 69 degrees as I write this and today’s high is supposed to reach 76. Spring has definitely sprung. To celebrate, the Central Park Conservancy is holding their first annual Central To Spring event tomorrow (Wednesday, 4/10), featuring free music, refreshments, and fireworks.
UPDATE 9:05 pm: I got hammered with tweets after the initial “Developing Story” post and had trouble keeping up. Just noticed that MUW reader @sosimplysophie_ sent in the photo above around 8:20 pm with the following note: “Firetrucks leaving the scene at 76th and CPW, no sense of urgency.” UPDATE 8:50 pm: I have my [...]
The New York Philharmonic held a concert in Central Park last night, followed by a small fireworks show. I snapped the shots above and below from my roof — you can see the towers of the San Remo in the foreground.

Just a quick note that if you hear explosions coming from Central Park this evening, we’re not under attack. As part of the celebration for Sunday’s NYC Marathon, there will be a fireworks show in the park tonight. Nice sequence of photos from @elliemphoto (www.ellie-photographyblog.com) taken on the 4th of July from West End Avenue in the 60s. If you were out on Monday night you know just how amazing the sky looked that night.
The Annual Macy’s Fireworks Show returns to the Hudson River tonight for the third year in a row. This year’s show, with the theme “Gift Of Freedom,” will pay special tribute to the Statue Of Liberty, which is celebrating its 125th anniversary. The show starts at 9:00 pm and runs for about 25 minutes.
