There’s been quite a bit of upheaval at popular UWS Spanish restaurant Gastroarte (formerly Graffit) over the past few weeks (141 W. 69, between Broadway & Columbus). Chef and partner Jesus Nunez left a few weeks ago and now a sign in the window indicates “the restaurant is closed for kitchen restoration.”

Post last month (and in all the daily “Free & Cheap UWS Events” posts since) that Restaurant Week/NYC Go Prix Fixe has been extended. If you’ve been meaning to sample the goods at participating restaurants, you have until Monday night to do so.

Extending “Restaurant Week” beyond its initial end date has become an unofficial tradition of sorts, and this year is no exception. While officially slated to end last Friday (8/10), dining deals are now available at many restaurants through Labor Day, including more than a dozen on the Upper West Side.
