I have literally no idea where the past three months have gone, but we’re now just a day away from what’s probably the Upper West Side’s “signature” event. If you haven’t bought [...]

After months of work, celebrity chef Maria Loi’s eponymous Greek restaurant finally opened a few weeks ago (previous coverage here, here, here, here, here, & here). Interesting update on the enigmatic Slightly Oliver that was mentioned last week (replacing Bar Luna at 511 Amsterdam). The “coming soon” signage went up so fast that I that I thought it might be a simple re-imagining of Bar Luna, but it’s actually something completely different and it sounds sort of promising.

The Blockheads Burritos slated for 635 Amsterdam is getting closer to opening. MUW reader Kevin sent in this photo earlier today along with the following note: “Signs are up. Paper down from windows. Greek newcomer Loi (which is replacing the old Compass restaurant) is getting closer to opening. Mentioned last month that Compass (208 W. 70th) had closed and was being reimagined as Loi, a Greek restaurant headed by Maria Loi. It now appears as though the opening is nearly upon us — MUW reader @jmagNYC tweeted to say she spoke to a manager who said it would open the “second week of [...]
