UWS Looks like gift/toy store Maxiga has closed — the windows are papered up and no one is answering their phone at their 2233 Broadway location (between 79th & 80th). Maxiga opened on the Upper West Side back in September 2011 (this space used to house a Best Buy Mobile store).

UWS The Upper West Side is getting a new coffee place, and it isn’t Starbucks. The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, a California-based chain that has developed a cult-like following of java (and tea) drinkers, is invading New York. I’m not a coffee drinker, but my friends who are tell me this is a BIG deal.
