Sing For Hope, the popular art installation of “pop-up” pianos that allows anyone to sit down and play music, returns to New York City for a 16-day run starting this weekend. From 6/1 to 6/16 there will be 88 pianos located throughout NYC, with eight here on the Upper West Side.

Good free family event in the neighborhood today (rain or shine) — the 10th Annual Mamapalooza Festival is taking place at Pier I in Riverside Park South (Hudson River & 70th). There will be food, live music, kids activities, crafts and more.

The 12th Annual New York City Irish Dance Festival takes place on the Upper West Side this afternoon. The event is free and there are activities for people of all ages.

If  you’re looking for some family entertainment in the neighborhood this weekend, the 10th Annual West Side County Fair takes place tomorrow afternoon in Riverside Park South (Sunday, 9/9).

Mentioned the FlyNY Kite Festival at UWS Pier I earlier today. The Riverside Park Fund (@SummerOnHudson) tweeted this photo of the action a little past noon. I was headed up the West Side Highway around 2:30 pm and the sky over the pier was filled with kites.

I’m a little late on this one, but if you’re looking for something to do with your kids today, there’s a free kite festival at Pier I until 3 pm (Saturday, 8/18).

Looks like the weather should be great tomorrow night (Wednesday, 7/11) — high-70s with just a hint of a breeze. That’s should be just about perfect for a free evening screening of Cinema Paradiso on Pier I along the Hudson in Riverside Park South.

It’s Sunday, which means it’s another evening of free dance lessons at Pier I in Riverside Park South. Master teachers from the Piel Canela Dance and Music School will be giving salsa, cha-cha and bachata lessons and leading group dances along the river.
