Tonight marks the final debate between President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney. If you’re looking for an opportunity to watch it with others, the UWS Community Free Democrats are holding a watch party in the neighborhood (CFD is one of the groups behind the recently opened UWS Obama campaign office).

If you’re looking for a place to watch tonight’s presidential debate/town hall, Stand Up NY (236 W. 78, between Broadway & Amsterdam) is hosting what looks to be a fun event. They’re screening the debate and mixing in stand up performances and a live feed from WitStream.com.

President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama are coming to the Upper West Side today. The couple is taping an episode of The View at ABC’s studios in the West 60s — it is their first joint appearance on the show.

Posted on Thursday that a new campaign office for President Obama is opening on the Upper West Side. The official ribbon-cutting ceremony (can’t have something political without a ribbon-cutting) is on Sunday morning and a variety of local officials will be on hand.

Back in June 2010, there was a flurry of interest when President Obama’s former UWS pad hit the market (it was rented less than two weeks later). After two years, it’s back on the market (with a 26% rent increase).

I’m still trying to track down details, but apparently someone robbed the Chase bank at 2875 Broadway (at 112th) yesterday afternoon, just five blocks south of where President Obama gave a commencement speech at Barnard.

The UWS and UES have long had political stigmas attached to them. If recent fundraising figured from the campaigns of President Obama and likely Republican challenger Mitt Romney are any indication, those stigmas still hold true — the UWS is blue and the UES is red.
