Meant to post this last month and it got completely lost in the shuffle. Popular Australian gastropub The Sunburnt Calf has shuttered (226 W. 79th, between Amsterdam & Broadway). If you were a fan of The Calf, this story has a silver lining: Two long-time employees are taking over the space and it will reopen with a [...]

Looks like 2427 Broadway (between 89th & 90th) is turning over again. In 2009, Accademia di Vino moved in to what had previously been home to Dock’s Oyster Bar, and eventually that transformed into Trattoria di Vino. TDV recently closed to make way for yet another new restaurant: Candle Cafe West — an offshoot of [...]

According to MUW reader (and kindergarten classmate) Jessica, the Blossom Du Jour at 165 Amsterdam (between 67th & 68th) had their official grand opening yesterday. First mentioned in May, BDJ had been targeting a September 9th opening. Compared to other places in the neighborhood, being only a month behind schedule is actually pretty good!

Fashion’s Night Out is sort of dominating today’s posts, and this one is no different. Celebrity Chef Marcus Samuelsson is opening a pop-up cafe in Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall (Broadway & 65th) to provide “global comfort” food through 9/15.
