Spring is just one week away and, with temperatures hovering near 50 today, it’s already starting to feel like it. The Riverside Park Conservancy is holding a Spring Clean Up Day this Saturday (3/16) and is looking for volunteers to help out at various locations throughout Riverside Park. Volunteers will work with RPC staff to [...]
Central Park hosted their annual tree lighting ceremony earlier this month — now it’s Riverside Park’s turn. The third annual “Holiday On The Hudson” tree lighting ceremony takes place TONIGHT (12/12/12).
Posted yesterday that all NYC parks, including Central and Riverside, would be closed until noon today. Just a heads up that the closures have been extended to Friday morning. This is a city-wide order from the Parks Department, but here’s a note the Central Park Conservancy sent out earlier this afternoon:
Posted earlier that Riverside Park is officially reopening on Saturday (Central Park, too). In poking around the Riverside Park Fund’s website, I just discovered their annual Halloween Parade that was canceled by Superstorm Sandy has been rescheduled for the late afternoon tomorrow (Saturday, 11/3).
While most of the Upper West Side escaped Superstorm Sandy relatively unscathed, the same cannot be said for two of the neighborhood’s most beloved features: Central Park and Riverside Park. If you’re looking for some family entertainment in the neighborhood this weekend, the 10th Annual West Side County Fair takes place tomorrow afternoon in Riverside Park South (Sunday, 9/9).

It’s Sunday, which means it’s another evening of free dance lessons at Pier I in Riverside Park South. Master teachers from the Piel Canela Dance and Music School will be giving salsa, cha-cha and bachata lessons and leading group dances along the river.
Nice free event this evening at Pier I in Riverside Park. Master teachers from the Piel Canela Dance and Music School will be giving salsa, cha-cha and bachata lessons and leading group dances along the river.
Judging by what I can see on the sidewalks, many people have already disposed of their Christmas trees. That said, I know more than a few of you still have yours. If you’re looking for an environmentally sound way to get rid of you tree, take note of the TreeCycle program from The Riverside Park [...]
If you’re looking to put a little holiday cheer in your day, take note that the Riverside Park Fund is hosting the second annual “Holiday On The Hudson” tree lighting ceremony tonight.
Last week MyUpperWest mentioned the Firemen’s Memorial as one of the many under-appreciated features of Riverside Park. Since the previous post mentioned the Soldiers’ & Sailors’ Monument (Riverside & 89th), which plays host to New York City’s official Memorial Day ceremonies each year, it seems like an opportune time to delve into more detail. Per [...]
