63-Year-Old Man Struck & Killed By 2 Train At 72nd Street; 4th Person Hit By UWS Train In Three Weeks

I’ve been traveling since last week and am catching up on news, so you may have heard about this already. A 63-year-old man was struck and killed by a downtown 2 train at the 72nd Street subway station early Sunday morning.

UWS Subway Closings: MTA FASTRACK Program Shutting Down Portions Of The A & C Lines This Week

The MTA continues their FASTRACK maintenance program this week. Previously, B and D trains were affected. This time around it’s the A, C, and E (although the latter isn’t UWS specific). If you ride those lines, be aware there are major service changes over the next four nights.

Third Person Hit By Subway On Upper West Side Last Week?

It was big news last week that two people were struck by trains at the 72nd Street 1/2/3 subway station (coverage here, here, and here). It now appears as though it’s possible a third person was hit by an uptown 1 train at the 59th Street/Columbus Circle station late on Thursday night.

UPDATE: UWS Subway Death Initially Reported As A Suicide Is Officially Recorded As An Accident

Posted yesterday that one of the two people hit by a subway on the Upper West Side on Wednesday was ruled as a suicide. That has now been reclassified as “an accident.”
