Interesting story brewing over at 72nd & Riverside.
A crush of taxi drivers attending daily prayers at the Islamic Cultural Center (1 Riverside Drive) are creating a traffic nightmare in the area. By flaunting parking rules and double- and triple-parking, they’re forcing other drivers to veer into oncoming traffic to get north on 72nd.
If you haven’t already heard the news, all mass transit (subways, buses, MetroNorth trains, etc.) will be shut down tomorrow at 12:00 pm in preparation for Hurricane Irene. The city is considering suspending all taxi service as well.
What’s going on with taxis crashing on Central Park West?
First it was Taxi vs. Bus. Then it was Taxi vs. Ambulance a few days later. Also let’s not forget the taxi crash NEAR Central Park West on the 97th Street Transverse.
