November saw the end of two mediocre sagas: The Twilight Saga and the saga of The Purple Fig. The much maligned restaurant at 250 W. 72nd (between Broadway & West End) recently closed and has been replaced by its predecessor, the reincarnated P.D. O’Hurley’s.

Had a slew of posts last month about the ongoing saga (Are they open? Are they closed?) at The Purple Fig (250 W. 72nd). If you lost track of things, they reopened in late-September with a new menu. Apparently they also have new management (thanks to @ManhattanMingle for the photo).

  It’s been almost a year since upscale consignment shop Second Time Around opened their first UWS store at 2624 Broadway (between 99th & 100th) last October. They’re now opening a second location a little further south in the neighborhood.

Posted back in May that Harry’s Shoes (2299 Broadway, between 82nd/83rd) would be expanding its store by taking over the space next door neighbor Talbot’s had vacated. The ongoing saga at The Purple Fig continues: Yesterday, the restaurant was ordered closed by the Department of Health for operating without a permit.

I’ve spent the past three days speculating that The Purple Fig had closed for good (here, here & here). It turned out to be as unproductive as speculation usually is… Looks like Purple Fig will indeed be reopening.

Looks like spinning studio Flywheel is trading up to a larger space in the neighborhood. They currently operate out of studio inside JCC In Manhattan (334 Amsterdam, at 76th), but will be moving to a space inside Kidville (466 Columbus, between 82nd& 83rd) this fall.
