Thanks to West Side Spirit for the link to a great piece in New York Magazine about the the “disappearing block” on Broadway between 77th & 78th, as well as the changing commercial and architectural landscape of the Upper West Side.
In opening news, Passion Hair Salon has popped-up on Broadway, between 82nd & 83rd (photo below). This space used to house Via Veneto, which I think was some sort of clothing/accessory boutique. Passion is open Monday through Friday, 10:30 am to 9:00 pm, and 10:30 – 7:00 pm on the weekends. They also offer free Wi-Fi. I can’t find a website for them, but if you’re interested in more information, their phone number is 212-799-1008.
Two other items from that same block as Passion:
- The Liberty Travel on the corner of 82nd on Broadway that was previously mentioned (relocating to elsewhere in the neighborhood) has officially closed and is vacant.
- Not sure what to make of this, but… I was looking on SeamlessWeb the other day and noticed a new restaurant called “All American Pancake House,” described as a “delivery only establishment.” Their address is listed as 2282 Broadway. That address is the same as Cafe Eighty Two, a diner. So either they’re leasing out a portion of their kitchen to this “All American Pancake House” place, or they’re one in the same. There’s no listing for Cafe Eighty Two on Seamless and I can’t remember if there was before. I just found that a little strange.
