Mentioned last month that Compass (208 W. 70th) had closed and was being reimagined as Loi, a Greek restaurant headed by Maria Loi.

It now appears as though the opening is nearly upon us — MUW reader @jmagNYC tweeted to say she spoke to a manager who said it would open the “second week of October.” This is slightly later than the September date originally reported in July, but still pretty close.

I walked by today to see if there was anything to photograph, but as you can see from the picture above, the signage hasn’t been changed. It didn’t appear as though there was any construction going on inside, but they may have already completed the interior renovations (I’d never been to Compass, so I don’t know if it was different). I DID see Ms. Loi talking on her cell outside, but I didn’t feel the need to be the creepy guy taking a camera phone picture of her.

Elsewhere, readers Gaby and Andrew provided an update on the new Ricky’s (Amsterdam & 70th) mentioned last Thursday. It appears as though it’s a Halloween pop-up store and not a full-fleged Ricky’s. They’re not open yet, but given that it’s almost October (where did the time go??) I would imagine the opening is imminent.

Finally, a reader reported earlier this month that the Rite-Aid at Broadway & 96th was closed. Either they jumped the gun or I misunderstood the e-mail, because as of this weekend they were still open and having a 50% off liquidation sale. MUW reader Kevin sent in the photo below, noting there was “a line outside just to get in the store!”

The photo is from Saturday — if anyone can give me an update as to whether or not they’re still open and having the sale it would be appreciated.
