Upper West Side Openings, Closings, & Relocations

Uber-popular UWS spot Calle Ocho has officially shuttered their location at 446 Columbus as they prepare to move into new digs at nearby 45 West 81st.
The nuevo latino restaurant had faced mild community opposition when trying to secure a liquor license for the new location, but they’ve ironed things out, have the license, and are now preparing the new spot. I’ve e-mailed my contact over there to try and get an opening date but haven’t heard back — will pass along info as it becomes available. For now, their website just says sometime this summer.
The restaurant’s move leaves a massive vacant space on Columbus. No word yet on what might might move in, but at least one Upper West Sider has a suggestion.
In opening news, the former Zeytin space at Columbus & 85th is moving closer to reopening. Fresh work permits dated within the past few weeks are up and there’s construction going on inside. A note on the door indicates that a liquor license application as been filed for “De La Fontaine LLC.” (h/t to MUW reader NYLadyEsq)
Elsewhere in the neighborhood, it appears as though the long vacant former home of Pudding Stones West Wine Bar has found a new tenant. Reader John reports that the space at 635 Amsterdam (corner of 91st) has a sign on the door showing a liquor license application for “Casa 91 LLC d/b/a Blockheads.” That would lead one to believe that burrito chain Blockheads is opening an outpost in the neighborhood. UPDATE: Tweet from @ReporterLeslie confirms that Blockheads is coming and targeting an October open.
