11th Annual Winter’s Eve Brings Out UWS Holiday Spirit
Winter’s Eve, New York City’s largest outdoor holiday festival, took place last night, and the perfect weather, great crowd, and festive atmosphere made for a successful event. Above, the evening kicked off with a holiday tree lighting hosted by WABC-TV’s Sade Baderinwa at Dante Park (Broadway between 63rd and 64th) followed by a fun performance by the Chia Dance Party, an NYC-based Columbian jazz band. After the tree lighting took place, restaurants and stores throughout the Lincoln Square area took place in awesome food tastings, performances, and specials. A plethora of Upper West Siders gathered to sample New England clam chowder from Ed’s Chowder House (63rd between Broadway and Columbus), winter cupcakes from Magnolia Bakery (Columbus at 69th), shrimp teriyaki burgers from Sushi A-Go-Go (Broadway between 63rd and 64th), tandoori chicken from Sapphire Indian Cuisine (Broadway between 60th and 61st), Mexican hot chocolate from Rosa Mexicano (Columbus at 62nd), and much, much more. Santa made an appearance while bands filled the street with music, and people popped in and out of area stores to check out the special happenings.
