Yes, you read that right.  Curbed NY reports that a studio apartment in the coveted 15 Central Park West building (at 62nd) recently sold for a whopping $2.6 million.  Unit S601 was last purchased only two years ago for $1,028,229, meaning its former owner made quite the investment, more than doubling the sale price.  The buyers, according to public record, are Ashok and Margaret Varadhan, who paid just over $16 million for 15 CPW’s apartment 9D in 2007.  The kicker to this story?  The studio is one of the 27 staff studios in the building.  Yep, that’s right… the apartment for the Varadhans’ butler went for almost unattainable-apartment-prices.  Way to make us feel poor.
