UPDATE 12/18: Columbia Student Struck By Hit & Run Driver Is Discharged From Hospital
Sad news this morning… a 20-year-old Columbia student is in critical condition after being struck by a car at Broadway & 106th early Sunday morning. The driver fled the scene.
The incident took place at the same intersection where 32-year-old Italian jazz singer Daniela D’Ercole was struck and killed almost exactly one month earlier.
There aren’t many details at the moment, but the Columbia Spectator and DNAinfo both have short stories.
The incident took place at roughly 1:20 am Sunday. The victim had exited a taxi and was struck by a gray Mercedes on the northbound side of Broadway.
Witnesses say the car had the green light, but that it kept going after striking the man.
The student was taken to St. Luke’s hospital — he suffered head trauma and was listed in critical condition.
