The vaunted New York City Michelin Restaurant Guide goes on sale today with its 2012 ratings and a handful of Upper West Side restaurants received coveted stars.

Of particular note is that of the seven 3-star restaurants in all of NYC, three of them reside on the Upper West Side.

Eater has a list of the restaurants that received stars. Here are the UWS recipients (stars in parenthesis):

• Jean Georges (***): 1 Central Park West
• Masa (***): Time Warner Center/Columbus Circle
• Per Se (***): Time Warner Center/Columbus Circle
• A Voce (*): Time Warner Center/Columbus Circle
• Dovetail (*): 103 W. 77th
• Picholine (*): 35 W. 64th (dropped from two-stars in 2011)

Also of note is that two of chef Michael White’s restaurants, Marea (**) and Ai Fiori (*) made the NYC list. As mentioned in July, he’s looking to open a place on the Upper West Side, which could mean even more stars for the neighborhood in the future.

Based on this post from August, I’m pretty sure Chef White is an Upper West Sider himself.
