DNAinfo reports there was an early-morning fire today at a homeless shelter on Broadway near 105th. 14 people were hurt and two, including a teenage girl, were taken to the hospital.

Initial reports from witnesses and people trapped in the building claimed that several emergency doors were locked. The FDNY was unable to find corroborating evidence.

Here’s a link to some shaky amateur video of the FDNY response from an apartment window a couple of blocks south. Full-disclosure: not much happens in the video. However, it’s mildly interesting to see the immense response to the building. It seems to have woken up the neighborhood, as the fire started just after 6 am on the 9th floor of the 18-story building. No word yet on the cause of the fire.
