25 CPW Wine Bar Approved by Community Board

Proposed wine bar via Central Park West Cafe's website. Can't the lawyers fighting the opening argue that this decor is so tacky that it should be illegal?
On Tuesday night, Community Board 7 voted 22-11 to approve the opening of a wine bar named Central Park West Café, which hopes to move into the ground floor of the residential building at 25 Central Park West (at 62nd), despite a vocal disapproval of the building’s residents, neighbors, and other community members. The board’s approval did include some conditions, however… the bar must close at 12:30 am or 1:30 am, the manager on duty will have a designated “complaint line” cell phone, and the owner promises to abstain from putting up a velvet rope outside. The fight to block the wine bar is far from over, though, as lawyers representing the residents will appeal based on zoning laws. We will let you know updates as the controversial Central Park West Café continues to move closer to a possible opening. [Source: Curbed, WI]
