420closed

420 Bar & Lounge (Amsterdam & 80th)  has been shutdown, at least for now.

That yellow notice in the picture above is titled “Restraining Order,” and makes reference to the bar being closed for violation of “the alcoholic beverage control law.” I have no idea what that means or if the closing is temporary or permanent, but if you were planning to head there tonight you should make alternative arrangements.

DNAinfo had a post last month titled “Police Say 420 Bar and Lounge is a Hotspot for Drugs, Fights” and the opening sentence was “Police say an Amsterdam Avenue bar has become such a neighborhood nuisance that they’re working to shut it down.” Looks like they’ve accomplished that.

Again, it’s unclear if this is a permanent closing or not, but from the quotes from police in the DNAinfo piece it certainly seems like the cops, and neighbors, want 420 shuttered for good.

Thanks to @DaanDoesNY for the tip.
