50th New York Film Festival In Full Swing At UWS FilmLinc; “Princess Bride” Cast Reuniting On Tuesday Night At Alice Tully Hall

Monday, October 1st, 2012

Posted about it last month and nearly every day since in the daily “Free & Cheap UWS Events” posts, but if you’ve somehow missed it, the 50th New York Film Festival (NYFF) is now in full swing at the Film Society Of Lincoln Center.

The festival runs for almost two more weeks and tickets to many screenings are still available.

You can read a brief overview in the earlier MUW post. Full details, including schedules and ticket information, are available at FilmLinc.com.

Most tickets range from $10 – $24.

DNAinfo had a post on Friday highlighting a screening of cult-classic The Princess Bride on Tuesday night. The film is celebrating its 25th anniversary.

To commemorate the occasion, most of film’s cast will be reuniting on the Upper West Side, including Cary Elwes, Robin Wright, Mandy Patinkin (“My name is Inogo Montoya”), Chris Sarandon, Wallace Shawn (“IN-CON-CEIVABLE!”), Carol Kane, and Billy Crystal (“Mmmm… an MLT — mutton, lettuce and tomato…).

The screening has been sold out for some time, but as with most NYFF events, there will be a standby line.

Standby policy for NYFF is as follows:

For programs with tickets that are currently unavailable, tickets at regular prices will be issued on a space-available basis approximately 15 minutes before showtime. Maximum of two tickets per person.

The screening starts at 9:00 pm at Alice Tully Hall (Broadway & 65th), which means the standby officially begins at 8:00 pm.

That said…

There seems to be huge demand for any few tickets that may become available. While the official standby line will queue up at 8:00 pm, I wouldn’t be surprised if die hard fans started showing up much earlier than that.

Regardless of whether or not this particular event interests you, the are a slew of great films and events on the rest of the NYFF slate.
