77th Street Greenmarket Expanding

Monday, March 1st, 2010

farmers-marketThe 77th Street Greenmarket, a popular farmers market with a wide array of local and organic offerings, is expanding, according to its website and Food and Things.  The market, open year-round on Sundays, was approved by Community Board 7 last month to move from its location in a schoolyard to the tree-lined sidewalk on the east side of Columbus Avenue, starting at 77th and extending an additional block to 80th.  The move and expansion is intended to dramatically increase the market’s offerings and allow for longer hours and larger numbers of shoppers.  If you look for the market during a street fair day on Columbus Avenue, just venture back to its old location at the schoolyard.  Thanks to My Upper West tipster Daren for the info.
