Annual “Lincoln Center Out Of Doors” Festival Starts Wednesday; Three Weeks Of 100+ Free Outdoor Events

Tuesday, July 24th, 2012

The 42nd season of Lincoln Center’s hugely popular “Out Of Doors” festival starts tomorrow, kicking off nearly three weeks of more than 100 free outdoor music, dance, and spoken word performances across a variety of genres.

This is a fantastic annual event for the city general, and the Upper West Side specifically.

You can see a full listing of happenings at lcoutofdoors.org. Tomorrow’s opening day events include:

Events take place at a variety of locations around the Lincoln Center campus, including:

  • The Damrosch Park Bandshell
  • Hearst Plaza
  • Josie Robertson Plaza
  • The NY Public Library For The Performing Arts

You can see a rough map of the locations below.

If you’re looking for food options in the area, there are obviously a slew of local restaurants to choose from. However, you should also be aware that food and drink is for sale at the festival:

In an effort to be in concert with the nightly programming of Lincoln Center Out of Doors, Restaurant Associates has developed a Street Food BBQ program for Damrosch Park. Stop by the Street Food BBQ stand for tasty snacks and meals designed for eating with your hands. Beer, wine, and cocktails are also available for consumption within Damrosch Park.

This is definitely one of the “signature” summer events for the neighborhood. I’ll be posting each day’s schedule in the daily “Free & Cheap UWS Events” post.
