Apartment Apparently Truly Unattainable… Half of Penthouse Condo Sells

apt-columbuscircleaAn 8 bedroom, 12 bathroom apartment in the Time Warner Center that was listed early this year was seemingly not meant to be, as a portion of the unit has sold, according to Curbed.  The 8,000-square-foot awe-inspiring penthouse on the 74th and 75th floors was actually a combination of two apartments: one unit owned by Steven Fedler (who allegedly obtained his fortune through Miss Cleo calls) and the other owned by Douglas Von Allmen (a victim of Ponzi schemer Scott Rothstein).  The owners went for a bold move, listing the apartments for $57.5 million in January, $4.1 million more than the combined prices of the individual listings.  When we called the home unattainable, we were apparently serious, as a buyer has reportedly gone into contract to purchase Von Allmen’s unit for $15.7 million.  The 3 bedroom condo was sold to an unnamed Russian tycoon, according to The New York Post.
