Good news… the Upper West Side has just gotten an extra injection of culture. The ground floor of 25 Central Park West, the prime location building that previously housed Gristedes supermarket and has been empty since August 2007, is now occupied by an art gallery. The newly-opened 25CPW is an “artist run alternative space which provides the opportunity for artists, curators, writers, and educators to engage with each other while simultaneously reaching out to neighborhood residents and the general public.” The space will offer events from lectures to exhibitions to film screenings. To celebrate the opening of the new gallery, the exhibition 10 from 25: Emerging Artists using Photography opened last week and runs through December 13th. Stop by to support some talented emerging artists.
