The Daily News reported that megastar couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie (is it us, or do they always look like wax figures of themselves?) are considering purchasing an apartment in Manhattan, and have been scoping out the Apthorp.  The famous Apthorp, occupying the entire square block surrounded by 78th, 79th, Broadway, and West End, is undergoing conversions to condos.  Rumor has it that the couple and their brood is considering the purchase and combination of three units in the building, due in part to its century-old Neo-Renaissance architecture and in part to the interior courtyard that allows for easy entrance and exit without the nuisance of paparazzi.  According to The Real Deal, a slew of other celebrities have been sniffing around the Apthorp condo conversions, from Bruce Willis to SJP/Matthew Broderick to Alec Baldwin to Real Housewife Jill Zarin.   There is a hitch to the conversion, however.  If 25 of the 32 units are not sold within two months, the conversion plan could fail.  Prices are said to have been slashed from $3000 per square foot to as low as $1500, so perhaps an influx of celebrities will push the condo conversion through, while leading to an Upper West Side even more full of famous faces.
