Cafe Lalo’s Owner Lists UWS Penthouse
The Real Deal reports that the owner of Café Lalo (83rd between Broadway and Amsterdam), the iconic eatery made nationally famous in You’ve Got Mail, has put his Upper West Side apartment up for sale. Haim Lalo, an Israeli expat who opened Café Lalo in 1998, has listed his duplex co-op in the Gloucester (79th between Broadway and Amsterdam) through Corcoran at $1.89 million. The 1,500-square-foot penthouse is one of the most desirable units in the Gloucester, with a southeast corner location offering an amazing view the Manhattan skyline. The penthouse also has an 18-foot double-height ceiling in the living room, along with a 150-square-foot terrace. Lalo also owns a swanky two-bedroom apartment in the coveted 15 Central Park West (at 62nd), which he purchased two years ago for $4.02 million, although it seems he has been trying to sell it too… he’s put the apartment on the market twice, once in 2009 for $7.74 million, and again in 2010 for $7.7 million, with neither attempt resulting in a sale. Go to the Corcoran listing to check out the deets on the Gloucester penthouse.
