super_bowl_xlv_logo-257x300Super Bowl XLV is taking place on Sunday with kickoff scheduled at 6:00 pm, and Upper West Side bars are gearing up for the big game.  If you feel like going out to root for the Green Bay Packers or the Pittsburgh Steelers, here are a few of the many options in the neighborhood.

• Blondies Sports (79th between Broadway and Amsterdam) is one of the best sports bars in the neighborhood, and they will have the game on their plethora of big screen LCD TVs.  Be sure to keep those wings orders coming… they come in several flavors and get raves from Upper West Siders.

• Fatty Crab (Broadway at 77th) will offer a ton of Super Bowl festivities.  Enjoy happy hour specials throughout the game, including some of their delicious Malaysian apps.

• Village Pourhouse (Amsterdam between 108th and 109th) is celebrating the Super Bowl this year with a full day of fun.  Enjoy the game on one of their 20 HD TVs, call to book one of their 4 private party spaces, and order some of their tasty bar food throughout the evening… the kitchen will be open until 1:00 am.

• The Abbey Pub (105th and Broadway) will likely continue their tradition of serving food in honor of the Super Bowl’s host city.  Expect to enjoy some of the local flavor of Arlington, Texas, along with food and drink specials, while enjoying the game.

Other spots that will be showing the game include The Parlour (86th near Broadway), Lansky’s (Columbus between 70th and 71st), McAleer’s Pub (Amsterdam between 80th and 81st), Soldier McGee (Amsterdam between 83rd and 84th), Brother Jimmy’s (Amsterdam near 81st), and The Blue Donkey Bar (Amsterdam between 83rd and 84th).
