According to the Daily News, celebrities have been coming forward in numbers with “To Whom It May Concern” letters, written to the NYC Parks Department, urging the department to allow the Tavern on the Green (67th and Central Park West) to keep its operators, the LeRoy family. The LeRoy family has run the restaurant for 35 years, and stars like Regis Philbin, Martha Stewart, Yoko Ono, Alec Baldwin, and Alan Alda are coming to the family’s side to try get the city to give them a 20 year operating license. Jennifer LeRoy, the current head of the restaurant, is competing with two others (who have put up the sum of $50,000 each for an operating license application) to obtain the license.
