Central Park Carousel Company Sold Dirty Food & Built Toilet In Mechanical Room
Ever eat at the Central Park carousel before Trump took over last year? You might not want to read this.
DNAinfo is reporting that in addition to overcharging customers and under-reporting income to the city, New York One, the former merry-go-round operator (unrelated to the similarly named cable channel), also served food from a dirty popcorn machine and dirty hot dog roller. This was after previously being ordered by the city to stop. There are no details as to exactly what “dirty” means, but if the city orders a business to stop serving from it, it’s probably way past the “maybe it’s OK” phase.
In addition to above infractions, apparently carousel employees also “built a makeshift toilet in the Central Park carousel’s mechanical room using buckets and a funnel.”
My guess is that they didn’t also build a “makeshift sink” to go along with said “toilet,” so the popcorn machine and hot dog rollers probably weren’t the only “dirty” things on-site.
This all came out during an audit by the City Comptroller’s office that determined New York One failed to pay the city more than $150,000 in operating fees.
I’m not sure what’s more interesting: all of the above, or the fact that New York One STILL operates the carousel in Flushing Meadows Corona Park!
