Central Park Carousel Might Stop Running
The Central Park Carousel (mid-park, near 65th) may come to a halt by next week, according to AM New York. The city reportedly terminated the lease with the carousel’s current operator, New York One, LLC, and a parks spokesperson states that it is doubtful that a replacement operator will found by the lease termination date on Monday. As a result, the operator will stop running the ride as of early next week. It is unclear why the lease with New York One, LLC was terminated. A search for a new carousel operator continues after the city issued a request for proposals to run the carousel on February 11th, received no response, and reissued the request this week. For now, the Central Park carousel is open from 10:00 am to dusk, weather permitting.
