Last Tuesday’s storm that caused over 100 trees in Central Park to be destroyed has resulted in a massive cleanup of the park, which will likely be underway for several more days.  The Central Park Conservancy has announced that the Central Park Drives north of 90th will be closed today (August 24th) and tomorrow (August 25th) to facilitate the cleanup process.  In addition, the West 100th Street Playground and the East 110th Street Playground are still closed until further notice.

Thanks for the tip. This happens every time there is a serious rain storm. usually, they close the drives and DONT tell anybody. This way you sit in traffic for an hour on 5 Ave only to get turned away from the drive at the entrance. It would be nice if they have some electronic traffic signs in Manhattan (as they do on the parkways these days) to alert you to a closure or FUBAR traffic incident.
